about the herk foundation
|
The Herk Foundation is a non-profit organization founded to help support music educational programs in Mississippi through scholarships, grants, and opportunities for music appreciation. It is expanding its initiatives to include other performance arts. The foundation was created in honor of Fred Earl Jones, nicknamed “Herk”. He served as a band director at H.W. Byers High School (Sand Flat) and was a true lover of music. The Herk Foundation’s purpose is to advance the appreciation of music and other performance arts programs within the North Mississippi Community and the surrounding area to provide opportunities for young people to be enriched by music through empowerment of educational music programs, scholarships, and other performing arts initiatives. |
